cattle drive

Up where Don comes from in northern Nebraska they still drive cattle from one pasture to another using the county roads. For some it is a chance to work the horses too. It is still an exciting event for me to chance upon. I remember moving cattle when I was a kid. There'd be someone in a pickup at the front & at the back of the herd. I was always a little worried that one of the cows would get separated. I wasn't afraid of the cows . . . just the bulls.

This is my favorite photo out of the bunch. I was sitting in the backseat of the vehicle & Don was talking to this cowboy. I took the picture through the back seat window.

These photos were taken in November of 2007.
