Happy Halloween!

My niece, Angie, is an adventurous soul. When I asked if I could photograph her wearing a mask she said ok! I was inspired by a classmate from my Photo IV class. I only shot a few photos on Angie's back deck that was lit by her porch light but I love how these turned out. Thanks, Angie!!

the auction

Dad's auction this past Saturday went off without a hitch. The weather was chilly in the 40's but the wind was not a factor. I thought the attendance a bit sparse but in the end the stuff all disappeared. Many things went cheaply. I spent $10 myself on a cordless drill & an old wooden chair my grandmother had given Dad for his garage. Now it sits in my garage. Dad's eyes were red rimmed at the beginning of the day, but he mingled & visited with people. Watched as some things sold but wasn't watching everything. In the end he was just relieved to finally have it over. "Sixty years together & we never threw anything away."

David, Ted & Yvonne's son, was a tremendous help & a hard worker.

My brothers wanted to heave this hair dryer into the dumpster. Nancy & I bet it would sell for at least $5. We lost. No one wanted it. I think I owe someone a beer at Dick's. We spent a lot of time under this with curlers in our hair.

This high chair was another item I was sure someone would want. Wrong again. Most of us spent time in this along with many grandchildren. Had to be careful not to pinch fingers though.

I remember shredding lots of carrots for jello salad with this. There would always be a sliver of carrot in the bottom to dig out & eat.

room with a view

Nancy sent me a few pictures for a project & this is one she sent that I won't be using but enjoyed nonetheless. She is sitting in the cab of Mike's combine while he is harvesting corn. It's not a view I've had the privilege of enjoying before so I'm glad she shared this with me. (I think she needs to take more pictures for me!)

Molly & Misha

Marsha has been telling me for months that she wanted me to take some pictures of her & her husband, Charles, & their two dogs, Molly & Misha. Molly's health is precarious & I've worried that Marsha would put off having some photos taken & it would be too late. But finally this past Saturday with perfect weather I took a few photos on their front stoop & driveway. We meant to seek out some gorgeous fall foliage but found staying at home worked well too.

fall on the tracks

I couldn't resist stopping by the tracks on my way to Hastings yesterday. I just grabbed my point & shoot camera for the trip and if I make sure the horizon looks straight the photos come out pretty good.

fall

I visited Dad today & we picked up a few things from his house. This tree was just north of his driveway. He can only think about all the leaves that are falling & will need to be cleaned up but I paused a moment to enjoy its grandeur.

I love this one. Dad on the right.

It looks like my grandmother on the left but no idea who everyone else is.

"Sunday threshing outfit."

"Wash house."

These are the final photos I've scanned so far. I need to take a final look through the album as there are a lot I left untouched.
