wheat harvest

Wheat harvest started for Gene & Dad on Friday. Dad's scheduled elective surgery got rescheduled, again, so I'd decided to go out & see him anyway since I had the day off. Being there to watch harvest was a real treat. Roy arrived Friday also & lent Gene a hand. They started in a field that is north of the house.





























































I rode with Gene to the Guide Rock elevator to empty the first load. There's the worry about what the moisture content will be but he was happy with the 13.2% that it tested at. I remember riding with Dad to the elevators during harvest & getting an ice cold orange soda in a glass bottle.





The field was finished yesterday & they moved to the other field "up north". Dad reports a setback this morning with a broken sickle that will hopefully be fixed soon.
