I came across this stand of poppies last week while on the University's East Campus for a class. I returned the next day to take some pictures before the weather destroyed them. I was back for class Tuesday evening & most of the stems were already naked of petals.
My nephew, Travis, & his wife, Abby, became first time parents last month. She is a cutie they named Olivia Adair. She was born April 22 at 7 1/2 pounds. Gene & Jean are the proud grandparents. I haven't laid eyes on her yet but Abby sent me these recent photos . . .
Here are Travis & Abby with Olivia on Mother's Day!
I have known my friend, Nancy, since high school. We bonded over bedpans while working in a nursing home one summer. We've stayed in touch over the years even while she lived in Texas (this is before texting, cell phones & Facebook). But she's been in Lincoln for several years now & this year she is watching her son, Nate, graduate from high school & her daughter, Sarah, graduate with her Master's degree in architecture. Nancy is planning one party for both of them & wanted some photos for their invitations. I love Architecture Hall on the campus of the University of Nebraska (where Sarah spent a lot of her time also) so we got a few photos there earlier this month. These are some of my favorites.
The poppies have been blooming this past week. I walk by these every time I walk the dogs. This is also where the lilacs bloom. The orange poppy is probably my favorite flower; certainly my favorite to photograph.
