Geri is my aunt. My Dad's sister. I took this photo of her in April on a visit to see her with Dad. I enjoy being around her & listening to her stories. We are both fans of the Food Network so we talk food too.

JDRF clothespins
I helped out with the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Walk on Sunday afternoon. The theme this year was "peace, love, cure". They had some of the team t-shirts pinned to a rope that was tied to two trees. I don't live far from Holmes Lake so I went home to get my camera.
That was a lot of clothespins for one weekend!

sunshine, wind & clothespins
I was able to stop by Nancy's house (my sister) for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon. She had clothes on the line . . .

Nancy & Bertha
I met my friend, Nancy, when I was in high school & we worked a couple of summers together at the nursing home in Blue Hill. Her mother, Bertha, worked in the kitchen. I still remember the wonderful baked goods Bertha made that we devoured on breaks. Nancy & I stayed in touch over the years (lots of bonding over bed pans & hoyer lifts), many of which she lived in Texas. Now she lives in Lincoln & she asked me to accompany her today back to Blue Hill so I could photograph her with her mother. I was flattered!
I'm still a fan of black & white photos.

buckeyes
While walking the dogs recently, I spotted this pod that fell off a neighbor's buckeye tree. It was completely closed when I first found it but I took it home & watched it slowly split open while sitting on my kitchen counter. The inside revealed two buckeye nuts. I finally broke it open the rest of the way to claim the nuts. They were beautiful, shiny & dark brown. One I gave to Lynne, my art teacher friend. I let my friend, Joan, pick out her own buckeye from my collection. For good luck.

birthday grief
This is for all the people who fussed that I didn't post a photo of myself for my birthday yesterday! This is a self portrait I took in July on the University campus using Sheldon art gallery as my backdrop. I was waiting for someone to show up & was killing time. Cameras are great for that . . .

Lori
I met Lori a few years ago when I served on the board of trustees for the Community Health Endowment. She is the president of the endowment. I am no longer on the board but I continue to stay in touch with Lori often through endowment events. I've always admired her intelligence, compassion & sense of humor. I asked if she'd mind if I photographed her at her office. She said it would be okay & we made a date. Did I mention she talks with her hands?
Can't forget the hands & feet.
Thanks, Lori!
